Robert (“Bob”) Friedman loves sharing his knowledge of the law and 43 years experience as a New York attorney by writing books, blogs and newspaper columns; presenting seminars and webinars; serving on nonprofit boards; and mentoring law school students. He attributes his success to client education, community involvement, and a reputation for cost effective, practical solutions to legal problems.

Friedman & Ranzenhofer, PC was founded in 1955 by Bob’s dad, Fred Friedman, a Holocaust survivor and U.S. Army veteran. Bob’s son, Justin Friedman (associate) joined the firm in 2018.

Michael H. Ranzenhofer

Rochester Attorney Michael H. Ranzenhofer is a partner in the Friedman & Ranzenhofer law firm. He takes his responsibilities to the citizens of the Rochester and WNY area very seriously.

Attorney Ranzenhofer grew up in New York and received a B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) in 1976 from S.U.N.Y. Albany and a Juris Doctor in 1979 from S.U.N.Y. Rochester.

He is admitted to all New York State Courts (1980), the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York (1980) and the U.S. Supreme Court (1985).

Sam Alba

Of Counsel

Samuel Alba is a junior partner with Friedman & Ranzenhofer, P.C. where he has worked since March of 2015.

His practice areas include criminal defense, plaintiff’s personal injury, matrimonial and family law, plaintiffs’ class actions, municipal law and article 78 proceedings, labor and employment, and estate litigation.

One of Sam’s representative cases is a wage and hour class action which settled for 3.1 million dollars in 2019.

Justin Friedman

Associate

Justin R. Friedman earned his J.D. from the Catholic University Columbus School of Law in 2017 with a concentration in Criminal Law.

Attorney Friedman received a B.A. from S.U.N.Y. Geneseo in 2001, a M.F.A. from American University in 2009, and has done extensive work in the fields of education and content writing. 

He is committed to utilizing the skills he has honed over the course of his previous career to best serve his clients in New York.

As a newly admitted attorney, Rochester- native John D. Dracup looks forward to leveraging his experiences and education for the benefit of his community and clients throughout New York.

A graduate of the SUNYAB School of Law, John D. Dracup earned his J.D. in 2022, concentrations in Finance and Development and Cross-Border Legal Studies, having participated in the New York City Program on Finance and Law.

Fred Friedman Memorial

My father, Fred Friedman, was born in 1926 in Salzburg, Austria. In 1938, a family friend from Switzerland helped my Dad and his family escape from Nazi-controlled Austria – just avoiding the German Concentration Camps. From Switzerland, the family traveled first to France, then Spain and Portugal before finally arriving in the United States in 1941. My Dad was 15 years old when his family settled in Queens, New York.

Shortly after he graduated from High School in 1945, my Dad joined the United States Army. After finishing his service, he earned an Accounting Degree from New York University in 1950. In 1954, he earned a Law Degree from Brooklyn Law School and was admitted to the New York State bar in 1955.
